Tron Mai

I'’m a director, head of story, and story artist specializing in animation. After graduating from Ringling College of Art and Design, I’ve worked across television and feature animation, including the How to Train Your Dragon trilogy, where I received an Annie Award for Outstanding Achievement in Storyboarding.

I work closely with creative leadership to develop story from concept through final film—clarifying structure, strengthening character, and shaping sequences as they evolve.

I’m often brought onto projects to help identify story issues early, align teams around clear direction, and refine sequences as ideas move forward, with a focus on shaping moments and characters that stay with audiences beyond the screen.

I’m currently at Disney and directing an original animated short film that I wrote, which I’m developing independently.
